Car Magazine Evaluation

In this assignment we had to decide on a topic to base our magazine project on, I chose to do a magazine about cars. This meant that I had to research on other car and, motor magazines that are already available across the country.  I took notes on the different types of camera angles, cars, and manufactures that are normally featured in those magazines.

I felt that if I were to make a car magazine I would enjoy taking pictures of all different types of cars that patrolled London and I knew I would enjoy it more if I was to see for example; new cars, expensive cars and fast sports cars. I wasn’t really trying to take really dynamic images; I was aiming to take regular pictures, which people are used to seeing in car magazines so that it would be a familiar view of how car pictures are taken. My target audience is generally aimed towards men or, people that enjoy reading car magazines.

I started making a mood board of what types of cars I was hopefully looking to come across and also what car manufactures would be great to feature in the magazine if possible so, I chose to do the mood board on PowerPoint which would make it easy for me to add and customise exactly how I wanted my mood board to look like.  This helped me when I started my mind map as it narrowed down the specifics I was looking for to help me with my magazine so, I could get started on taking pictures of what cars I wanted in the magazine.

When I started taking pictures I didn’t have a primary idea of what sort of cars I would be taking pictures of, as long as they fitted into the mind map’s persona then I would take a picture of it.  But the main type of cars did turn out to be either; sports, luxury or expensive vehicles.  When I did finish taking my pictures I decide to make a short video montage of them and add a soundtrack to it to make it a bit interesting. I used Final Cut Pro to edit my pictures by making them move or rotate.
